Sports Lover’s Dream
April has been a sports lover’s dream, highlighted by the likes of Tiger Woods and Mike Krzyzewski. Although both Tiger and Coach K did not win their respective events (congratulations to the Kansas Jayhawks and Scottie Scheffler for their big wins), both Woods and Krzyzewski captured audiences' hearts and minds. They represented two of the greatest sporting legends, playing in two of the most amazing sporting events of the year: the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament and The Masters. Both events kicked-off a super-charged month that has not disappointed.
What makes it so special?
From the pinnacle of golf to the world’s best amateur basketball (if we can even call it that anymore), April is packed with attention grabbing sporting events. What makes it so special is that there is something for everyone, regardless of which sports or which levels you love. A quick summary... Men’s and Women’s NCAA winter sports championships, including the NCAA Basketball Tournaments and Frozen Four Hockey Championships; The Masters; NBA Playoffs; NHL Playoffs; MLB Spring Training and Opening Day; NASCAR at Talladega; The NFL Draft... the list goes on and apologies if your favorite isn’t listed here, but you get the point...
Spring Fever
The bigger implication of all these great sporting events, especially for those in northern climates, is the onset of Spring. As athletes take the field or court and the ground begins to defrost, we know it signals the climax of our winter seasons and beginning of spring seasons. The feelings of nostalgia that Spring generates in many cannot be contained. Employees skip out on work to catch the first days of the NCAA tournament, while others take a week off to watch The Masters. Opening Day is a tradition unlike any other across our nation’s ballparks that garners a lion’s share of corporate social events and PTO days as fans tailgate around the country. Spring breakers and spring trainers are all enjoying a bit more fun in the sun, knowing that winter is coming to an end and summer is around the corner. What a wonderful time to be a sports fan!
